Weddings are full of symbolism & these symbols are all things that you can transfer to your wedding favors. If you are having a traditional style wedding then you should make your wedding favors traditional too.
Here are a few ideas to inspire you:
Doves
Many couples will release a pair of white doves after their ceremony & doves often feature traditional wedding stationery & accessories. Visit your local craft store for some white plastic or flocked doves which you can use to top your favor boxes or make up pretty tulle nets & attach a dove to the top so it looks like it is nesting!
Decorate your favor boxes with stickers featuring doves as a motif or die cut dove shapes which you could use as thank you tags.
Have some cookies made in a dove shape & iced in white.
Wedding Bells
Always a traditional symbol for weddings & probably the most well known. You will miniature wedding bells at most favor stores ready to be decorated with a ribbon bow & a small thank you tag. Tradition has it that whenever you pass by your guests or enter or leave the room your guests have to ring the bells & the two of you should kiss!
Again have some cookies made up in the shape of wedding bells.
Attach tiny bells to your wedding favor boxes or use bell shaped thank you tags & stickers.
For something a little more luxurious you could give your guests a crystal bell.
Hearts
Wedding are all about love & romance so hearts are a perfect symbol. The choices here are far ranging, including cookies, mini cakes, cookie cutters, photograph frames, bookmarks, bottle stoppers & candles.
Alternatively give your guests heart shaped candies & chocolates in a heart shaped box. Or decorate your boxes with silver pewter heart charms.
Wedding Rings
The perfect symbol of unity & very easy to add to your wedding favors. You could add two gold colored rings to your wedding favor boxes with ribbon. Or use wedding rings as a motif for personalized stickers & thank you tags.
Swans
They say that Swans will mate with one other for their entire lives, so it is little wonder that they have become associated with weddings.
Swans will feature on many things, from photograph frames to coasters. As with doves, you could use small plastic swans on your wedding favor boxes or tulle nets.
Again, have custom made swan shaped cookies or look for swan shaped candle holders, favor holders or crystal swans.
There are many symbols traditionally associated with weddings & which can be easily transferred into your wedding favors with a little creative thinking. Take a visit to your local craft store or look online at the range of different items available, you could be surprised at how much inspiration you gain with the end result, some beautiful traditional wedding favors.
